Welcome

Learning to play an instrument and performing in the band is a learning hi lite  for our Gr. 7 and Gr. 8 students.  Thanks to the support of the School Council and Milk Program, we have a fully equipped music room with high quality band instruments, djembe drums and ukuleles. All students are encouraged to join their respective Gr. 7 or Gr. 8 band.  Our Gr. 8  Band performs several times during the year at assemblies, Terry Fox, for community groups like the Bridgenorth seniors and Trent Daycare, at Canada’s Wonderland Musicfest, Schools In Peterborough, and at three Chemong evening concert dates throughout the year.

“Learning to play an instrument is a wonderful way to challenge our students artistically,  build confidence, provide positive experiences working together on a common goal and paves the way for lifelong learning and enjoyment!"

Chemong Public School offers a Drama Club to students in Grades 5 and 6.  Each year, we put on a production with day time performances for all grades and an evening performance for families.  The production is designed to accommodate a large cast of performers – with both speaking and non-speaking roles.  Sound, lighting, assisting the director, set painting, and backstage management are also opportunities for students to become involved in this production.  We are looking forward to this year’s production - The Wizard of Oz.
